Christmas Lights at Leeds Castle

Well, I decided to go again this year, I thought last year's event was quite good, but you always think the first was the best, being new. Booked my tickets online, about three weeks and booked for parking.

I booked a later slot, hoping to miss the crowds, they do tend to bottleneck at some of the big lighting shows and at Father Christmas, which is understandable. The weather was miserable, but it is November, they changed the trail, to the other way around, so you walk to the castle first via the line of trees. The 12 days of Christmas I thought was good, the willow charters depicting the 12 days. I'm surprised they didn't have the music in the background playing.

Then you see the Castle light up with lasers, gobos and patterns, then you walk to the fair, they had food and drink there with seating, you are looking at £10 for a burger, which is a lot. I decided to have a sausage and chips on the way home, that was £6.50, had to wait for more chips to be fried. So you just carry on around looking at the events.

You came to a marshmallow and mulled wine stand, I was tempted but put off at the price, I think they would have been better with a shot of mulled wine or serving hot chocolate. Then you come to Father Christmas in his fine robes, No miss Clause, I think that would have helped with the queue's as Children like to stop. Father Christmas was a bit cheeky, commenting on how he likes mince pies and a drop of Brandy!

And we went on to the Hearts show and then on to the Arch of lights, everyone likes these taking selfies, me included. They had the fire display, rows of fire lit holders, and metal balls which were cut out, and the fire light shows the patters, it was a bit too dark as my pocket camera had trouble focusing. Don't use flash, you get a flat picture and blinding everyone!

Then you arrive at the String of colour changing balls, again people like to stop and take pictures, I think the kids liked this as they tried to run through the lights as they changed colours. This is where my face is blue, from the lights, it looks like I'm auditioning for the Blue Man Group!

Then you arrive at the large cone-shaped Christmas tree, which has changing light effects, big and impressive. And the last one is the tunnel of love hearts, I was on my own so had no one to kiss! That was a hit with couples.

As It was early, I managed to ask if I could go around again as there were fewer people and I could take more pictures. So I whizzed around again, you need boots or wellies for the mud, warm clothing, I still had a skirt on, but it was thick and long.

So over all, I wasn't disappointed, the cost for one was with parking etc…:
Christmas Lights At Leeds Castle 1 x Adult - Off Peak £18.00
Christmas Lights At Leeds Castle - Car Parking 1 x On-site Car Parking £6.00
Refund Protection £3.30
Transaction Fee £2.50
Total £29.80

It's only one a year, even if you go around twice!
