Leeds Castle Christmas Market

Well, I thought it was time to explore the big wide world again, well I got as far as Leeds Castle Christmas Market. First, there was a bit of a queue of getting in the car park, If you don't have a season ticket you can get a £7 entrance fee ticket to the Christmas Market.

Well, First, I checked out the Castle as I wanted to hear the Christmas Carol Singers, I don't know which one is Carol! Sorry, a Christmas Cracker joke, well at least it didn't have an elf in the punch line. Anyway, they were very good, could have had a few chairs available as there was only standing room. As I went through the rooms they were decorated very nicely, even had a real Christmas tree in nearly all of them, decorating one tree is enough but about twenty would drive me crackers!

In one of the rooms, they were telling stories, Paddington bear, Scrooge etc... They had a day to tell the stories to the Children at a small cost. Adults get in free, except you need to have a kid! On other days there was just a recording of the stories. Once finished exploring the Castle I went on to the Christmas Market, you need a ticket to get in, I just walked in without being stopped.

If you have never been to a Christmas market it's fun, but the prices are what you would expect normally and 5 tokens for the rides cost £10, expensive if you have kids. I confess I didn't go on the rides as it was bitter cold and I had a skirt on.

The food smelled good, the average coffee was £2.50 and German sausage and chips were about £5. I didn't spot any roasting Chestnuts, not even popcorn. Perhaps it was "elf 'n' safety" or the EU put a stop to it.

What is wrong with having a traditional English market? Where ever the Germans go there seems to be a German market of some sorts, make it British! Mince pies, roasting chestnuts, Cornish pasties, English cakes, English apples, Local wine, Lollipops, Candy canes, A stick of rock, Chicken skewers, Fish and chips, Yorkshire pudding, the list goes on...

Overall, I would say if you were looking for a bargain, not the place to find one! Fun for two hours!

Back to writing Christmas Jokes! Only kidding!

A few of you were wondering about the Canadian goose in my pictures on the Flickr site, well I think he reconsigned me from last time as I feed them. If he had got any closer, he would have picked my pockets! I will try to remember some food next time, the only problem is they all look the same!
