Leeds Castle Monster Halloween 2019

Well I managed to get out today and head for Leeds Castle, just needed to be Julie, when arriving the car park was almost full, I didn't remember an event on, I was expecting almost nothing, then I saw all the kids and remembered half-term. Leeds Castle had a Monster Academy this Halloween, and it's on all week.

The place is full of little monsters running around shouting! Followed by the parents! I managed to park the car near the entrance, so I didn't have to walk miles and through mud. Once in, I walked to the Castle, and they had a competition for the kids (monsters) to count different sections of the monsters on the boards. To be honest I think the kids did better than the parents, enough said, but it was amusing listening to the different answers which the kids came up with.

As I was happy snapping away careful not to take any pictures of kids, copy-write, parents consent etc… There was an entertainer dressed as a mummy, I think he was a mummy dancing with the kids, it was good but a few more would have been better.

I think it would be nice if we could rent costumes and have a walk around as a Victorian or witch or something.

As I continued on towards the gardens going around the groups of kids and parents and ducks and swans, plus the poop, I was surprised how green the trees still are being mid-October, but I guess we haven't had any frosts yet to turn the trees colours.

I arrived at gardens where they had hidden carved pumpkins all over the garden with kids counting them at all different stages, I'm not sure on now many, but I counted twenty-seven, but I wasn't doing the competition, so it didn't matter. But it was fun!

I headed to the castle to see if they had done anything for the Halloween event, but they haven't, not even flower displays with pumpkins at every turn, which was a surprise or a missed opportunity to draw in the crowds. Leeds Castle could have done a lot more to be honest, it wasn't even clear if adults could go dressed-up, I could have gone as a witch.

The weather was good, didn't rain, and this time of the year I think is the best time to take pictures due to the light and the right camera. Overall, it was good to get out.
