Christmas at Leeds Castle 2021

Published on 19 December 2021 at 20:11

As Halloween was a flop, I thought it was time to visit Leeds Castle at Christmas, well I went today which was busy being a Sunday. I guess everyone wants to see the 12 days of Christmas.

Usually it's very good but this year it's not quite good, the displays were too small outside and not so many trees in side the Castle. If you manage to get there, go to the Castle first as there could be waiting as people take different times in various rooms, it closes at 3.30pm.

First you walk under the turtle-doves arch, many are taking pictures, I'm one of them, I seamed to of missed the Partridge in a Pear Tree.

Then you walk along to the French Hens, well, they're little houses with a tape recorder making hen noises. You follow the path to the four calling birds with a phone.

You carry on to the Five gold rings, where you can stick your head through a cut-out.

Then the six grease a-laying, with children rolling eggs down tubes. Then on to the seven swans swimming, this is when I decided to go to the castle for the displays. You have to wear a mask, but you need to get in quick as the Castle closes at 3.30pm and was expecting queues, only a slight delay going up wooden stairs.

I have been before in previous times and I have to say a bit disappointed in the displays. But nice to see. A pleasant man(staff) took my picture in front of the big Christmas tree, which was a charming thought.

Back to the 12 days of Christmas, after the swans were eight milking churns, children were hitting them with sticks, not sure if they were meant to, but they did. Then outside the maze were drums, the children love this, you can hear it! Then there were pipes with bellows, children, and some adults tried to make a tune.

Then you came across dancing figures, well, black cut out figures stuck in pots. So there you have it, the 12 days of Christmas.

Merry Christmas everyone!
