Whitstable, Tankerton Bay, Herne Bay and Westgate Bay

Always wanted to go to Whitstable, my sister loves it. It's a bit like Rye, a lot of Art gallery's, small shops and barbers, also charity shops. Managed to find a road space without paying for car parking. A five-minute walk to the harbour.

I went inside an Art Gallery, the ladies were happy to see me, I always wanted to say the picture is upside down, especially the abstract ones. I went upstairs and there were David Hockney photographs, an artist from the 70's, look him up.

Then I went up and down the high street, went into a few shops, Whites of Kent, a woman old-fashioned underware shop, they even had black stockings which is unheard of in modern underware shops, unless online. I was tempted but didn't buy a pair.

After exploring the high street, I went back to the harbour, feeling a bit peckish, I always wanted to try eating an oyster. I would have given it a go, but the hut was closed, I would have given it a 50/50 chance of the oyster not coming back up! There are a few shops closed.

I found a hot drink's stall, I was not amused with waiting on the previous order, but by the time I got to order the queue behind me was ten people long! So I didn't order any food. So I headed back to my car and drove to the next place.

I ended up at Tankerton bay, the usual beach huts and pebble beach. I love the seaside, the smell of the sea, the sound of the sea and wet sand under your feet, or this time pebbles. Then on to Herne Bay, I didn't stay long as I had to pay for parking, it was quite crowded.

I remembered a country House called Quex nearby, so I headed off to find it, followed the sat nav and ended at Quex Barn, I had a gammon, egg, and chips also a latte which came to £14, it was nice. I ask a waitress about the Quex House, I think she was French by her accent, she was not sure, I asked another, but the house was closed! I think they have an Egyptian collection, another time, So I headed off again and found the Sea again.

I ended up at Westgate Bay, the sea was in, there were a few people swimming / floating, buy this time the sun decided to come out and was getting warm, so I walked to the nearest watering hole called Westgate Bay bar, I walked in and went to the bar and got a can of drink, £2, tried to pay with a card, but they have a £5 minimum order, so I just about had enough change to pay.

I was not amused at that or couldn't be bothered to argue. I was waiting for the girl to say they get charged for the cards, that is shit! Because the law stopped the card companies charging extra for using a card back in 2018. So if you're from Trading Standards or Thanet Council, have a word.

I walked back to the car, there was no parking meter, which is a plus! I drove back home.

I have uploaded a few more pictures on my Flickr page, so go and have a look. Click Here.
